Approaching Taiwan's buffets
Finding vegetarian
buffets in Taiwan is exceptionally easy. You're likely to find them in
any busy area- just look for a sign with
the "vegetarian" character
shown at left. The list below, selected for their uniformly high quality, is
just a sample of the many I came across. Though the basic theme is the
same, each buffet has its own specialties and balance.
NOTE:
Service hours are usually approximately
1130-1430 and 1700-2000 only!
Arrive shortly after opening time for best selection.

Some BackgroundTravel In Taiwan , "Eating Vegetarian and Eating Well in Taipei", 1995 offers a general introduction to the range of vegetarian eating in Taipei.Sinorama, "The Vegetarian Revolution", March 1997 is a well-balanced piece that touches on many aspects of Chinese vegetarianism including its roots, common practices and beliefs in Taiwan, and the "mock meat" controversy. Information presented here was gathered in four 1-month visits: July and November 1998, and January and June 1999. The inspiration and motivation was The Food - with grateful thanks to the people, plants, earth, air, and energy that provided it. |
